A small child hears a story for the first time in a language that isn’t quite their own yet. Their eyes widen. The words matter less than the pictures and the voice. Haut-Lac International Bilingual School is opening its library doors to that moment, and to every family in the Swiss Riviera who wants to share it, not just its own.
Little Bookworm’s Club is a new bilingual storytime series. It begins at 9:30 on Wednesday 30 September, in the library at the Praz-Dagoud campus in St-Légier. All families in the region are welcome, whether or not their children are enrolled at Haut-Lac.
Children aged two to four can attend with a parent. Each session brings one story in French and one in English, read by the school’s infant and primary librarian. The odd morning might lean towards two stories in the same language, depending on who turns up.
For many families, it will be a first taste of school life. A room full of books. A familiar face reading aloud. A gentle way into the idea of the classroom, long before it becomes routine. Parents keen to see more of the school can stay on afterwards for a guided tour.
Sessions are free. Places are limited, so registration is required.
