WHAT DO WE DO ?

At Haut-Lac International Bilingual School, we believe in educating the whole child in a safe and welcoming environment.

Our modern, holistic approach provides students with personalised learning pathways that:

  • instill in them a love of learning
  • boost their knowledge of academic subjects through a 21st century theme-based Primary curriculum, three renowned International Baccalaureate programmes, a Swiss option and a US Diploma programme
  • create opportunities for teamwork with international peers to develop their social skills and cultural awareness
  • encourage them to discover and develop their sporting, artistic, digital and diplomatic talents, to name but a few
  • equip them with the soft skills required to stand out from the crowd when applying to university and for work
  • enable them to become responsible, multilingual, global citizens capable of taking their place in an increasingly globalised and sustainable society

OUR MISSION & VISION

A WORDFROM THE DIRECTORS

Over 30 years ago, we were just two families with a dream. We wanted to create a learning space where children from Switzerland and all over the world could live and thrive together in two languages. Today, our dream is a reality. Approximately 600 students from 50 countries play, learn, and grow together at Haut-Lac, an international Swiss bilingual school. We are humbled by the trust put in us by their parents and honoured to be a part of their journey. We hope that you will enjoy discovering for yourself what makes our school so special.
ABOUT

ABOUTBILINGUALISM

We believe that true bilingual education is not limited to offering academic instruction in two languages. Unlike other schools, we offer true bilingual immersion in study, play and daily activities. No matter what your child’s language level is today, they will leave our school equipped to live in English and French.

A predominantly English programme is also available for students who come to us with neither English nor French, or whose families are on short-term contracts to Switzerland and plan on returning to study in their respective countries. These students will study French as a foreign language in an environment that exposes them to the language on a daily basis.

APPROACH TO TEACHINGMODERN & PROGRESSIVE

At Haut-Lac International Bilingual School, we enable students to master skills and content in a happy and nurturing environment, both in and out of the classroom. Risk-taking, reflection, enthusiasm, motivation and self-led learning, where each student is recognised and accepted as an individual, remain at the heart of the learning process. Students produce, synthesize, and evaluate information, exercising choice, developing goals, planning their approach and working independently in two or more languages. They are encouraged to grow as global citizens and digital leaders, open to change in order to develop the knowledge and skills to promote sustainable intercultural understanding and respect.
