Haut-Lac is a leading international IB day and boarding school in St-Légier-La Chiésaz. We are recognised both by the global bodies that set standards for international education and by the private school associations closest to home in the canton of Vaud.
Each organisation below independently reviews all or part of how we teach, board or run the school. Together, they give an external, verifiable picture of the quality behind our IB results, our boarding house and our place in Swiss education and on the Swiss Riviera.
The IB authorises a school to teach its programmes only once it has met exacting standards for curriculum, teaching and assessment. Haut-Lac is an authorised IB World School for the Middle Years, Diploma and Career-related Programmes, so families can be confident their child’s IB certificate or diploma is recognised by universities worldwide.
Eco-Schools is one of the world’s largest environmental education programmes, built around a seven-step process that leads to the international Green Flag award. At Haut-Lac, students lead the programme themselves, so they get a real say in how the school reduces its environmental impact.
Come and visit, meet our teachers and see what life at Haut-Lac looks like day to day.
Accreditation renewals. Award ceremonies. Results in action.
Here’s where we share how these standards show up in the classroom, from IB results to student-led sustainability projects.

Accreditation means an independent body has reviewed the school. For a family choosing a school abroad, that external check replaces a lot of guesswork: it confirms that teaching quality, safeguarding and day-to-day school life meet standards set outside Haut-Lac, not just by it.
Yes. Haut-Lac is an authorised IB World School, and our NEASC accreditation underpins the US High School Diploma. Both are recognised by universities and school systems worldwide, so a change of country or university plan later on doesn’t put your child’s qualification in question.
An accreditation (CIS, NEASC, WAoS) means a body has formally assessed and approved how Haut-Lac teaches or supports students. A membership (BSA, FSEP, AVDEP, SGIS, and others) means Haut-Lac belongs to a recognised network and follows its shared standards. Both point to external accountability, just at different levels.
Our boarding house holds International Full membership of the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA), awarded only after review against its Commitment to Care Charter. For boarding families, that means the pastoral care and safeguarding your child receives are benchmarked against the same standards used in leading UK boarding schools.
Accreditation isn’t a one-off certificate. Bodies like CIS and NEASC carry out regular, independent review cycles, not a single inspection, so Haut-Lac has to keep meeting the standard, not just meet it once.
It should. Because bodies like CIS and the IB use shared, internationally agreed standards, a school report or qualification from Haut-Lac is something other accredited schools and universities already know how to read, which smooths a transfer compared with moving from an unaccredited school.
