SportAt Haut-lac

Haut-Lac International Bilingual School is proud of its robust sports programme. It believes all students should be given the opportunity to learn by achieving their sporting potential, and therefore offers a wide range of physical and competitive activities to help students find a sport they can thrive in.

AboutSport & Swimming

All our students have two sports lessons a week throughout the year, one of which becomes a swimming lesson for a term for students aged 4 to 10. Infant and Primary students get an excellent grounding in core skills, whilst lower Secondary students gradually become self-directed learners, and upper Secondary students learn sports leadership skills.
About

AboutSkiing

Skiing is an important part of the sports programme at Haut-Lac International Bilingual School in the winter term.

Guided by official Swiss ski school instructors and our staff, Primary students spend up to 10 afternoons or mornings a season skiing in Les Paccots, Lower Secondary students head to Morgins five times to ski or snowboard, and Upper Secondary students may sign up to ski or snowboard on three different occasions depending on their workload.

Our Primary and Secondary ski teams also train every Wednesday afternoon and all day Saturday for the many interschool slalom races that take place over the term.

About theSki Race Academy

As of September 2022, Haut-Lac and Ski Zenit, a cutting-edge ski racing centre in Saas-Fee and Zinal, will be working together with young ski racers to get them the highest level in their sport and at school.

Check out the new Ski Race Academy here.

AboutGolf

Patience. Discipline. Determination.

Three skills that will serve students well as they go through life, so why wait to work on them?

Especially if you can do so through a sport you love. That’s what our young IBMYP student-athlete and U12/U14 Swiss golf champion Anahie thought anyways.

Thanks to our partnership with Golf Lavaux, she and other Haut-Lac students get to work on those skills as they discover this different kind of sport during three after-school golf clubs run by our resident golf pro and/or our 3-week summer golf camp.

About theGolf Simulator

The only way to get better is to practice.

And with a top-notch golf simulator on campus, Haut-Lac students can carry on doing just that even when the weather turns!

SportClubs

In addition to weekly sports lessons, regular ski outings in the winter term, and swimming lessons, our extensive choice of after-school clubs gives students the chance to learn and improve their skills in individual and team sports such as football, basketball, golf, tennis, badminton, sailing, climbing and more.

SportCompetitions

As a member of several international and private school associations, our students regularly take part in inter-school competitions against other schools in Switzerland and abroad in sports such as football, basketball, horse-riding, golf, badminton and gymnastics.

Training sessions, matches and competitions all provide an opportunity for growth, self-reflection, good sportsmanship, and much more. We believe that, regardless of the level at which it is played, sport gives us the opportunity to teach valuable life lessons and prepare our students for the competitive world of higher education and professional life.
